Haryana’s Cooperation and Housing Minister Satpal Sangwan is in the dock for allegedly using abusive language against a police inspector late on Thursday at the Charkhi Dadri Civil Hospital in Bhiwani district.

Charkhi Dadri Station House Officer Satpal Singh Yadav (54),who has recorded the entire incident in the Daily Diary Register (DDR) of the police station and informed his superiors, was admitted to the Bhiwani Civil Hospital on Friday when he complained of severe chest pain following the “mental agony” he had to go through. He is reported to be stable.

The incident took place at Charkhi Dadri Civil Hospital on Thursday when Yadav had gone to record the statement of stabbing victim Ravinder, who also happens to be a former personal assistant of Sangwan.

According to Yadav, while he was speaking to Ravinder,Sangwan reached the spot and started hurling abuses at him. The minister allegedly told him to get out of the hospital. Yadav left and reported the entire incident to Bhiwani SP and Charkhi Dadri DSP.

The DDR,(a copy of which is with The Indian Express),added: “With the minister’s behaviour,I have suffered a lot of mental harassment and humiliation… I have become incapable of performing my duty.”

Sangwan, however, denied the charges. “I have not misbehaved with the inspector. I had gone to see Ravinder who was stabbed. The inspector reached the spot six hours late. I told him bhai time pe aaya karo, kyun Dadri ka naash kar rakha hai (Brother, reach on time; why have you spoiled Dadri). I spoke with the DGP and Bhiwani SP,why will I speak to an SHO?”

Contacted,Bhiwani SP Pankaj Nain, said: “We have not received any written complaint. We will take action as per law.”

Meanwhile,INLD legislator Ajay Chautala demanded Sangwan’s resignation and said a criminal case should be lodged against him.
