Hallomajra govt school gets new building for Rs 2.5 cr

Advisor to UT Administration K K Sharma on Tuesday inaugurated the new block of Government High School,Hallomajra.

Earlier,the school had nine rooms and one prefabricated shed consisting seven classrooms. Out of the nine rooms,three were being used as classrooms and six as computer lab,staff room,science lab,MDM room,library and principal’s office.

The building was not sufficient to accommodate more than 2,800 students and so students of class V were shifted to Government High School,Karsan,and Government Senior Secondary School,Karsan. This was a temporary arrangement to undertake construction of additional block consisting 18 rooms. After the inauguration of a new block consisting 18 rooms,28 classrooms will be available,including seven rooms in prefabricated sheds.

The school needs additional rooms to accommodate more than 2,800 students,but there isn’t space for further construction.

The school will have two shift to accommodate 1,500 students of classes VI to X in the morning shift and 1,300 students in the evening shift.

Around Rs 2.5 crore have been spent on this building. Apart from others,V K Singh,Finance- cum-Education Secretary of Chandigarh Administration and Chanchal Singh,Deputy Director School Education,were present at the inauguration.
