Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj V Patil held a meeting of officials of all departments on Monday to review the working of the Administration.

Apart from discussion about Prime Minister’s visit next month, the recent incident of the clash between the Deputy Commissioner and the SDM was also discussed.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be visiting Chandigarh in September to hand over the keys of the one room tenaments constructed under the rehabilitation scheme to the beneficiaries. He directed that the work be undertaken be completed at the earliest. While the construction of the tenaments at Dhanas was completed last year, the supporting infrastructure was not ready yet.

Another issue that was discussed in the meeting was the recent dispute between DC Mohd Shayin and SDM Amandeep Kaur. The SDM wrote to the Adviser complaining that she was not being consulted with decisions of her departments.

She also complained of ‘mental harassment’ and demanded that her departments be shifted. Patil directed that the issue be resolved at the earliest.

Meanwhile,HCS officer Kamlesh Kumar on Monday joined the UT Administration. He is yet to be handed over charge of a department. With his joining,a reshuffle is expected in the Administration within one or two days. Kamlesh has earlier served in Chandigarh. He was repatriated last year after completion of his term.
