Guru Ramanand murder: Cops say 140 arrested for rioting

The Punjab and Haryana court today directed Punjab Police to arrest all those involved in riots which broke out in northern India after Guru Sant Ramanand was killed in Vienna,Austria.

The Punjab and Haryana court today directed Punjab Police to arrest all those involved in riots which broke out in northern India after Guru Sant Ramanand was killed in Vienna,Austria. The court expressed its disapproval of the state’s lack of action against the guilty.

During the resumed hearing of a petition,the Police today submitted it issued summons to 752 witnesses and complainants in the case and examined 75 witnesses.

The police also in an affidavit filed today that it has arrested 140 and submitted final reports of 73 more people in the respective courts.

The affidavit further reads,“four lost lives in self defence whereas one died due to accidental injuries”. Taking the affidavit on record,a division bench today told the Punjab Police to investigate such cases where untrace reports have been filed.

The case has been adjourned for two weeks,after which the police were told to file the status report.
