The ongoing tussle between the Haryana Wakf Board and Muslim Kalyan Committee (MKC),based at Hisar, has intensified with the two locking horns over a chunk of land, measuring a few acres,in Agroha village of Hisar district.
While the Hisar police claim that some MKC members have already been booked on the charges of illegally occupying the Wakf Board land, the Committee has threatened to launch an agitation on Sunday by blocking the Sirsa-Delhi National Highway,at Agroha.
The dispute arose over a plot land, where according to the MKC members,a graveyard was located, and was allegedly razed by some unidentified persons. According to the MKC president,Harphul Khan Bhatti, some miscreants had used illegally heavy earth-moving machinery to raze the graves and level the ground.
Bhatti alleged that despite several complaints lodged with the Hisar police,no action was taken. However, refuting the charges,Anil Dhawan,Superintendent of Police,Hisar, said,They (MKC) better not try to block the highway. Any kind of nuisance shall not be tolerated. The land in question belongs to Wakf Board, and there is already a case registered against a few members of this committee on charges of forcible occupation of the land.
Now,if the Wakf Board has given the land to somebody else, the police cant stop him from levelling the ground.
Bhatti, while talking to the mediapersons at Hisar,
alleged that since the Muslim families have felt quite hurt with this attitude of Haryana police, they have decided to quit Agroha village, where they were settled for all these years, and migrate to neighbouring Churu in Rajasthan.
