The Punjab government is planning to establish at least one government college in each of the 117 assembly constituencies in the state,said Education Minister of Punjab Sikander Singh Maluka,while addressing a workshop in Government College,Phase 6,on Monday.
Maluka was the chief guest in the one-day seminar and workshop on Rashtriya Uchhattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) which was conducted by the Punjab Higher Education department.
Maluka urged the college authorities to raise the overall status of colleges and universities.
A quality education is a must for leading a productive and successful life,the minister said.
Maluka added that new courses should be added to the existing curriculum in order to meet the changing demands of the market. RUSA aims to give impetus to higher education as per global needs and requirements, he said.
