Golf Academy inaugurated at GJIMT

In a major step to promote golf among the students,a Golf Academy was launched at Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology,Mohali.

Mohali: In a major step to promote golf among the students,a Golf Academy was launched at Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology,Mohali. The Institute started the academy on Wednesday where youngsters will train under EGTF certified coach Ajay Gujral. Two greens have been constructed for chipping and pitching and 15 students will be enrolled in each batch and there will be four batches in a month. The first batch of 15 students will start on August 13.

Cricket trials on August 11

Mohali: Mohali Cricket Association will conduct trials at 7.00 am at MCA-C ground on August 11 to select the senior cricket team . The selected team will take part in the Inter-District Senior Cricket Tournament for Katoch Shield being organised by Punjab Cricket Association. The players born,residing or studying in Mohali are eligible for the trials.

Hosts Jalandhar enter final

JALANDHAR: Hosts Jalandhar reached final of both the boy’s and girl’s Under-19 team event of the Punjab State Junio Inter District badminton championship being held in Jalandhar,on Wednesday. In the boy’s Under-19 team event,they routed Gurdaspur 2-0. In the other semi-final match in the same category,Amritsar whitewashed Sangrur 2-0. Meanwhile,in the girl’s Under-19 team event,Jalandhar eves produced a scintillating show and outplayed Patiala 2-0. The Ludhiana eves also hammered Amritsar 2-0 to complete the final line-up.

Boys: Under-19 team event: First round: Patiala bt Bathinda 2-0,Sangrur bt Ferozpur 2-0; Quarter-finals: Amritsar bt Patiala 2-0,Sangrur bt S.B.S.Nagar 2-0,Jalandhar bt Ludhiana 2-0,Gurdaspur bt Ropar 2-0; semi-final: Amritsar bt Sangrur 2-0,Jalandhar bt Gurdaspur 2-0;

Girls: Under-19 team event: Quarter Final round: Patiala bt Sangrur 2-1,Jalandhar bt Fazilka 2-0,Amritsar got w/o from S.B.S.Nagar,Ludhiana bt Gurdaspur 2-0; semi-final: Jalandhar bt Patiala 2-0,Ludhiana bt Amritsar 2-0.

Badminton tourney from August 16

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Badminton Association will be holding Chandigarh State Badminton Championships in different age groups like Under-10 (Singles),Under-13,Under-15,Under-17,Under-19 and Senior boys and girls from August 16. Entries can be given to Satish Bhatia and Kabir in Sector 42,Pomila at Sector 23 and also to Surinder Mahajan at Panjab University Badminton Hall.

Cricket meet from August 11

CHANDIGARH: Greenfield Cricket Academy will organise 1st Tricity Under-14 Independence Cup at the Greenfield Cricket Academy Grounds in Mohali from August 11. The T20 tournament would be played on league-cum-knockout basis. Schools and academies from Tricity can take part in the tournament. The cut off date for players is 01.01.1998.
