The fresh extension has been given to him till March 31. Meanwhile the UT Administration has also forwarded the names of 12 doctors to the Union Public Service Commission, who are in the fray for the coveted post.

Earlier, the CAT had ordered that all the in-house candidates from the institute are also eligible for consideration against the post.

UT officials said that the exercise of selecting the new director of GMCH-32 is being conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and it will be completed by the end of next month.

Dr Raj Bahadur,a professor in the Orthopedics Department of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) joined the post on deputation on December 1,2007.

Dr Raj has now become the longest serving director of the GMCH-32 in its history. Prior to him Dr Kak had served the medical college for five years and two months.
