Girl killed, five injured as car hits cycle cart

A speeding black Honda City with registration number HR 03 M 4369 hit the cycle cart and fled.

One girl was killed and at least five were injured after a car hit a cycle cart near the Housing Board light point on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Urmila, 16.

According to the police, the incident happened a hundred metres before the Housing Board light point around 8.30 pm when a cycle cart coming from the Mani Majra side was trying to cross over the road divider and head towards Mauli Jagran. A speeding black Honda City with registration number HR 03 M 4369 hit the cycle cart and fled.

The injured were rushed to PGI, where one girl was declared dead on arrival.

An eyewitness had noted the number of the car and informed the police control room.

Two of the injured were identified as Aarti and Chandani who were Urmila’s sisters. Among others who suffered injuries were the mother-son duo  of Rajkumari and Golu, and Jasbir.
