Chandigarh: More than 50 youngsters participated in the Muscle Mania 2013 organised at a private gym in Sector 34 on Sunday. The event aimed at the promotion of health and fitness for the people in the tricity saw around 10 competitions in various categories including Bench Press and Arm Wrestling. Focused on strength and fitness,the event was the first of its kind to have been organised by the Gymnasium. Emerging as the winner in both the competitions,Geetu Singh won the title and also took home a cash prize of Rs. 5000. The male categories in the Bench Press Competitions included below 70 kg,between 70-85 kg,above 90 kgs and the professional category. The winner’s crown in the mens category was won by Tejinder Singh who was also the runner up in the Male Arm Wrestling Competition. The winners went away with interesting prizes including cash prizes of Rs. 10000,trip to Manali,free movie vouchers and a free membership of the Club Pulse.
Cricket tourney from April 24
Chandigarh: After a thumping success of the first two editions of CII Corporate Cricket Cup in Chandigarh,Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region has announced the 3rd edition of the CII Corporate Cricket Cup in Chandigarh. The tournament will begin from April 24 in Chandigarh.The tournament would be played on league cum knock out basis. All the matches would be played on weekends. The league matches would be played at both Panchkula and Chandigarh while the semifinals and the finals would be played in Chandigarh. Matches would be of 20 overs. Wrestling meet in May
Chandigarh: As many as 800 wrestlers will be seen in action during the 32nd Junior boys (Freestyle and Greco-Roman) and 15th Female (Freestyle) junior wrestling championships to be held at Sector 10 Rink Hall from May 9 to 12. According to Darshan Lal,general secretary of Chandigarh UT Wrestling Association,more than 800 wrestlers,including girls,from 25 states and Union Territories will compete in the two junior nationals. Meanwhile,the Chandigarh State Junior Wrestling Championship will be hosted on April 11 and 12. The first two position holders in each category will attend a coaching camp. The Chandigarh team will also be selected during the state coaching camp.
