Four cases of theft reported in 24 hours

Two incidents of snatching were reported in the city on June 15. In the first incident,two unidentified motorcycle-borne youths snatched a gold chain of a woman. Kalawati,resident of Sector 37,Chandigarh,was heading to the market at around 6:30 pm when the miscreants snatched her chain.

Kalawati noted down the registration number of the motorcycle and lodged a complaint with the Chandigarh Police. A case on charges of theft under sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Sector-39 Police Station against the snatchers,who are still at large.

In the second incident,Sector-35 resident Karnail Kaur alleged that a motorcyclist snatched her gold earring near the Attawa Chowk when she was returning home. A case on charges of theft has been registered at the Sector-36 Police Station.

Two vehicle thefts were also reported in Sector 39 on the same day. A Hero Honda motorbike and a jeep belonging to Mandeep Singh and Rajeev Sharma,respectively,were stolen from outside their houses. Cases of theft have been registered.
