A tourist information centre will be set up soon at the Capitol Complex. Permits for visiting the buildings in the complex would be issued at the information centre.
The foundation stone of the tourist information centre was laid on Thursday by the UT Adviser KK Sharma. The centre will be set up at the site located on Jan Marg near Capitol Complex,Sector 1 on the heritage path along midway between rotary of Uttar Marg and Jan Marg.
The Capitol Complex comprises the high court,secretariat and the assembly. At present,tourists who wish to visit the area have to seek permission from various centres.
The design for the centre was made under the guidance of MN Sharma,first Indian Chief Architect of the city and Secretary Architecture and Urban Planning. The building has been planned as a small,compact,functional single-storey structure measuring 41-0 x 41-0 approximately and 14-0 high facing North West. The building shall have a reception and souvenir display area. Touch screens kiosk shall be installed for dissemination of tourist information.
The terrace of the building will be made available to the tourists and it will house a sitting arrangement with partially solar powered. Paintings gifted by MN Sharma will be installed at the centre.
