Following the recent hike of Rs 2.35,the difference between the petrol prices in Mohali and Panchkula has reached an all-time high of Rs 8.
While petrol prices for Panchkula have soared to Rs 74.80 per litre, consumers in Mohali have to pay Rs 82.80 a litre.
In Chandigarh, petrol is being sold at a price of Rs 75.26 per litre.
Petrol in Mohali has always remained dearer by Rs 5-6 compared to Panchkula and even Chandigarh. But the recent hike which actually turns out to be of Rs 2.90 has widened the gap. Owing to a heavier VAT levied,Punjab is the costliest state for petrol.
However,as for diesel prices, not much difference has been recorded in Tricity so far. While diesel prices have shot up to Rs 50.93 and Rs 50.65 a litre in Mohali and Panchkula respectively,it is being sold at Rs 52.90 per litre in Chandigarh.
