Five eunuchs were injured after allegedly being attacked with chilli powder and blunt weapons by a rival group in Sector 10 on Monday morning. The victims alleged that the assailants threw acid on them, but both police and hospital sources denied it.

The victims, Sunil, Anisha, Shabbo, Mehak (all in their thirties) and their leader Madhu, have been admitted to the General Hospital in Sector 16. All of them are said to be stable.

Sources said the two groups had been at loggerheads with each other over division of areas. The victims, who belong to Sector 26, alleged that sectors 48 and 49 were under them, but the rival group from Manimajra had been intruding.

“Last Thursday we fought over this issue and on Sunday they came to meet us at the Sector 49 police post. They started pelting stones at us and, therefore, a compromise could not be reached,” alleged Madhu.

She said that on Monday, they were travelling on the road dividing sectors 10 and 11 when a van intercepted them and started thrashing them. “They smashed the windowpanes, threw three-four bottles of acid at us and then threw chilli powder. They beat us up with sticks and fled. We recognised Rani and Anchal,”said Madhu.

SHO at the Sector 3 police station said, “There were no burns and no acid was used.” Police have recorded their statements and initiated investigation.
