Firing outside SSP’s house: Two cops record statement

The statements of two people were recorded in the case,in which,gunshots were fired outside UT SSP Naunihal Singh’s house in Sector 16 by UT constables Jagbir Singh and Baleer Singh in March this year.

The statements of two people were recorded in the case,in which,gunshots were fired outside UT SSP Naunihal Singh’s house in Sector 16 by UT constables Jagbir Singh and Baleer Singh in March this year. The two were dismissed from duty after the incident and arrested on attempt to murder charges.

The statements of UT Inspector Satpal and Sub-Inspector Rajinder Singh were recorded in the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge SS Sahani on Friday.

On the day of the incident,the two constables had reached the Police Headquarters and requested their senior officers to let them return home claiming they were drunk. When refused,they allegedly created a nuisance and used abusive language. The two hurled abuses at senior police officers. They initially went towards ISBT in Sector 17 and then headed towards the official residence of the SSP in Sector 16. The two allegedly kept misinforming the Police Control Room about their location,but later stated that they were heading towards the S’P’s residence.

Inspector Satpal had gone to the SSP’s house along with ASI Sukhwinder Singh. Constable Jagbir allegedly fired at Inspector Satpal when he tried to pacify him.

The bullet narrowly missed the inspector. Sub-Inspector Rajinder Singh was on duty at the control room when the alleged incident had taken place.

Cash at judge’s doorstep: Hearing adjourned to July 14

CHANDIGARH: THE Special CBI Court on Friday adjourned the corruption case involving the former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Nirmal Yadav for July 14.The adjournment was made on the directions of Supreme Court,which told the Court not to proceed with the framing of charges against Nirmal Yadav and a co-accused in the case till the apex court adjudicates upon the petition filed by Yadav.
