Days after a mutilated body of an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan was found in Jagraon’s Akhara village, the Ludhiana (Rural) police on Wednesday claimed to have cracked the case with arrest of three persons including a woman and a juvenile.

The police have arrested the fiancee of the deceased, her cousin brother and a juvenile accomplice for hatching the entire conspiracy.

The police claimed that Rajwinder Kaur, fiancee of the deceased, was having an affair with her cousin brother (maternal uncle’s son) Pradeep Singh, who hailed from Jagraon’s Bhamipura village. Both wanted to get married and hence they conspired to eliminate the ITBP jawan, Satnam Singh, who was engaged to Kaur.

Jagraon SSP Surjit Singh said that Pradeep asked Satnam to come to Jagraon on the pretext of discussing procedure of recruitment in the Army. When he reached there, Pradeep along with a juvenile offered him juice laced with poison. Later, they took the deceased on their motorbike to Akhara village and allegedly murdered him.
