Finance and Contract Committee of the Municipal Corporation approved the amendment of the terms and conditions of the auction of paid parking lots.
The amendments were proposed after the auction of paid parking lots over the past few months yielded poor results. The bids received were lower than what they fetched in previous auctions.
Members of F&CC decided that the bank guarantee of the contractors would be reduced to six months from the current nine months. The aim is to ensure that there is participation from more contractors. At present seven to eight contractors are managing 23 paid parking lots. There was speculation that the contractors were indulging in pooling when the auction was held .
While fines were imposed on the contractors,it was felt that these did not have much affect. Now,if fines are not deposited within 10 days, then the amount will be enhanced by 5 per cent. The enhancement will occur every 10 days till the fine is deposited.
It was also decided that the instalments taken from the contractors would be monthly instead of three instalments being bimonthly and two being quarterly.
The F&CC decided to fix Rs 500 towards cleaning charges for the community centres with the supervisor responsible for the cleaning. The committee also approved purchase of spare parts for mechanised road sweeping machines.
The timings for vendors to operate has been increased to 9 pm. Recarpeting of a number of roads was also approved.
