Though Kings XI Punjab played their last home match at Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium on Sunday,it was a treat for nearly 20,000 fans, who had come to watch the team in action against the Deccan Chargers (DC).
Even though the match saw the hosts play DC,who are at the bottom of the points table this season, fans thronged the stadium just to get a glimpse of players like Dale Steyn and former Kings skipper Kumar Sangakkara.
We just came to see Dale Steyn in action. He is one of the fastest bowlers on this planet. Mohali wicket has got some bounce and it is a perfect pitch for a bowler like him. We are sad that Adam Gilchrist is not playing due to a hamstring injury, but we enjoyed watching the game, said Anoop Kumar,a bank employee, who came to watch the last match of the season being played at PCA stadium
While the Punjab team won five consecutive matches during the last season, this time the team has only registered six wins and need to win the remaining matches to advance into the play-offs.
The team has performed well despite the absence of Adam Gilchrist. Players like Mandeep Singh and Azhar Mahmood have played well, said Piyush Bhandari, another cricket enthusiast.
Now the action will shift to Dharamshala, where Kings XI Punjab will play their last two matches of the league before playing Delhi Daredevils at Delhi on Wednesday.
We had seen last years matches at Dharamshala and this time too,we are going to watch them, and we hope that they win. Besides this,we will also get a chance to travel to Dharamshala, which has perhaps one of the worlds best stadiums in the hills, shared Nitin Rattan Bhardwaj,a HR manager.
