Family alleges carpenter murdered shopkeeper

A 55-year-old shopkeeper,Ashok Kumar,was allegedly murdered on Wednesday afternoon in Abheypur village.

A 55-year-old shopkeeper,Ashok Kumar,was allegedly murdered on Wednesday afternoon in Abheypur village. Police has registered a case of murder and taken up the investigation and said that a complaint was lodged by family members of the deceased a resident of Sector 15,alleging that Kumar was assaulted by a carpenter,Jaswinder Singh,which resulted in his death.

“Jaswinder pushed Ashok and tried to strangulate him after a scuffle. Ashok was injured and was shifted by his family members to the Panchkula hospital in Sector 6,where doctors declared him brought dead,” the family members complained to the police.

Police said that Kumar was running a utensil shop in Abheypur and he had got work done at his house through Jawinder Singh. Kumar had paid Jaswinder Rs 2,600,but had told him that Rs 2,400 will be paid later. Jaswinder came to his shop on Wednesday,at about 4 pm,and asked him to pay the entire amount.

“Kumar gave him Rs 1,000,but Jaswinder was adamant on taking Rs 2,400. There was an argument between the two and Jaswinder allegedly pushed him resulting in his death,” the family told the police. Jaswinder fled from the spot after the incident. Police said that they are waiting for the postmortem report to know the cause of death.
