Ex-IAS officer BJP’s man from Hoshiarpur

The Bharatiya Janata Party today announced the name of former IAS officer Som Parkash as the party candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced the name of former IAS officer Som Parkash as the party candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency. Hoshiarpur is a reserved seat. With this announcement,the BJP has announced candidates on its quota of three seats in Punjab.

Navjot Singh Sidhu from Amritsar and Vinod Khanna from Gurdaspur are the other two BJP candidates. Som Parkash had last month quit the IAS to join active politics. He was the Chief Administrator of PUDA when he resigned. Som has also served as DC,Hoshiarpur.

Kamal Sharma,general secretary of the Punjab BJP,talking to ENS,said the decision to have Som Parkash as the party candidate has been made keeping in view the winnability factor. The constituency has about 4.5 lakh SC voters out of a total of about 12.5 lakh voters.
