“I somehow connect with Chandigarh. This is the lifestyle that I want to live,” said Bollywood singer Abhijeet on his visit to the city. He criticised the way Bollywood music has turned to commercialisation of the folk music. “There is no Punjabi in Punjabi songs,no Bengali in Bengali songs. They have more English words than their own. This is a very sad state of music.”

“In Punjab, singers like Hans Raj Hans,Gurdass Mann should be promoted,” he added. He also criticised the latest trend of Bollywood of importing singers from the neighbouring countries. Talking about his experiences with reality television he said,“I am a very choosy person. I choose the songs that I want to sing. Similarly I choose reality shows which I feel are reliable and in which reality will be shown. To the rest I say a big no.”

He also remembered Ishmeet and how he had favoured him during the show because he found originality in his voice.

He said,“All the other judges were against Ishmeet but I wanted him to go further in the competition. In one of episodes,I scolded him so that he gets maximum votes by the viewers and he did. I played this game so that Ishmeet continues to stay in the contest.”
