Mohali Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tejinderpal Singh Sidhu,on Thursday,said that in order to beautify the town various development works have been started.
Sidhu said Mohali was the entrance and therefore,the gateway to Punjab. All entry points between Chandigarh and Mohali will be cleaned and beautified by renovating the main chowks of the town and giving them a new look,he added.
According to Sidhu,a green belt will be formed near Phase III at the UT-Mohali border,for which work has already been initiated. The green belt will comprise of fountains,lights and flowering plants,he said.
Also,Sidhu said Verka Chowk would be renovated on the pattern of YPS chowk at an estimate cost of around Rs 35 lakh. Rectification of electric supply at Diplast Chowk would be completed very soon,he went on to say.
Sidhu added all damaged streetlights in Mohali were being repaired,while beautification of parks has started. Over Rs 24 crore is being spent on the internal roads of the town,Sidhu said.
Apart from this,Rs 2.8 crore will be spent on fixing paver blocks in the city,while Rs 11.8 crore will be spent on sanitation works.
