Drunk man enters girls’ hostel,arrested

A 31-year-old man was arrested after he entered Girls Hostel No. 1 of Panjab University.

A 31-year-old man was arrested after he entered Girls Hostel No. 1 of Panjab University. The accused has been identified as Navdeep Singh,a resident of Ambala.

According to police,the incident took place at around 11 pm on Saturday.

Navdeep,who was in an inebriated state,parked his scooter near the hostel and entered the hostel building. He reportedly reached the first floor when hostel inmates noticed him and raised an alarm. PU security personnel caught him and informed the police. A case of trespassing has been registered at the Sector 11 police station. His intention behind entering the hostel remains unknown. The accused was today produced in court and sent to judicial custody.

He had been in the city along with his wife for the past few weeks as his mother is admitted to PGIMER. Singh works as a coffee and cold drink machine mechanic in Ambala.

Scooter rams into cyclist

CHANDIGARH: A 27-year-old cyclist was killed in a road accident after he was hit by a scooter coming from the wrong side of the road on Saturday. The deceased identified as Jatinder Kumar was a resident of Phase 1,Mohali. He was taken to GMCH-32 where he succumbed to his injuries. The accused,a B-tech student,has been arrested. ENS
