Double delight for Kalyani

For the second day running,Kalyani emerged as the player to watch out for in the Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament,being played at the Table Tennis Hall in Sector 23,on Friday.

For the second day running,Kalyani emerged as the player to watch out for in the Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament,being played at the Table Tennis Hall in Sector 23,on Friday. Kalyani,a student of SD Collge,Sector 32,won both the junior girls’ singles (Under-18) and youth girls’ singles (Unde-21) titles.

In the youth girls’ final,Kalyani outplayed Naina Suri,also of SD College,Sector 32,with a score of 4-1 (11-8,11-8,9-11,11-6,11-4) (4-1). In the semi-finals,she had defeated Pareen of DAV Public School,Sector 8. In the girl’s junior final,Kalyani humbled Pareen of DAV-8,by 4-0 (7-11,11-9,11-9,11-5,11-4 (4-1),to win the title. She had earlier defeated Alish Grewal of Carmel Convent-9 in the semis.

Dev Saini of DAV College,Sector 10,registered an easy 4-0 verdict against Mayank Kapoor of DAV-8 to win the youth boy’s Under-21 title. Saini defeated Dinker Goel 4-0 in the semi-finals to secure a berth in the final. Mayank Kapoo,meanwhile,won the boy’s junior title by defeating Divakash of DAV-8 by 4-1 (11-13,11-6,11-8,12-10,11-7). The sub-junior girl’s title was claimed by Pareen of DAV-8 as she registered an easy 3-0 (11-8,11-9,11-9) win over Rhea Gupta. Pankaj took the title in the boy’s section following his 3-1 (11-6,11-6,9-11,11-6) victory over Ishu Dhingra of DAV-8.
