‘Domination exercise’ inquiry begins

The inquiry officer today recorded the statements of five children who were allegedly picked up by police in the wee hours of Friday morning in the name of verification from Sector 25.

The inquiry officer today recorded the statements of five children who were allegedly picked up by police in the wee hours of Friday morning in the name of verification from Sector 25.

According to sources,the inquiry officer is also reported to have recorded the statements of some policemen who were involved in the search and domination exercise of the police. The CCTV footage of the cameras installed at the Sector 24 Police Post was also views by the inquiry officer.

Sources said that the police personnel who had gone to the house on the day of the incident were called today and the children were told to identify them in the presence of ASP (Central) Deshraj Singh.

On Friday,at around 4 am,five students who were sleeping in a rented room in Sector 25 were woken up by the police. They were allegedly taken to the Sector 24 police post in a police vehicle and were only left at 6 am after verification.

The underprivileged students are supported by an NGO in their studies. On Friday,UT SSP Naunihal Singh,had marked an inquiry into the incident which is being conducted by ASP.
