The family of 16-year-old Kiran, who reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in a Sector 19 house on Tuesday evening, protested at the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH-16) against the Chandigarh Police,on Thursday, and demanded an inquiry into her death.

The family had earlier alleged foul play in the death as they claimed the employers had been troubling the deceased since she had started working there in place of her sister-in-law Geeta.

The family had also given a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). They want Kiran’s death to be probed by a high ranking officer and also want her employers to be booked for her death.

In their complaint to the SSP,the family has alleged that the place where the deceased was found hanging was not very high and Kiran could not have committed suicide there. They also alleged that the employer had called up the family saying Kiran was not well, but when they went there they found her hanging on a grille of a window.

Later in the evening, the family, accompanied by other residents, protested outside Sector 19 police station, where DSP J S Khaira assured them that a fair probe would be conducted by the SDM.

Pargat Singh,SHO of Sector 19 police station, said that they had asked the doctors to determine the age of the deceased and to establish whether their was any poisoning or rape attempt.

Kiran,a resident of Kansal, was working as a domestic help at a Sector 19 house.
