A day after targeting media at Bassi Pathana, AAP Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann skipped his scheduled rallies at Bathinda and Muktsar, on Friday. The organisers gave different reasons for the leader’s absence.

In Bathinda, where he was to arrive at 11AM, party’s candidate from the area Rupinder Ruby, at 2.30pm, said Mann was not able to make it to the rally as his route was blocked by SAD workers. The organiser claimed that leader was stopped by police.

Bikramjeet Singh, SP Investigation Bathinda Police said, “We are not aware why the Sangrur MP did not turn up. Our force was deputed near the site to maintain law and order. We had no contact with him.”

In Muktsar, where he was supposed to arrive at 1pm to support candidate Kaka Brar, the organiser, announced at 4pm, said Mann was unwell and hospitalised.

Media, meanwhile, arrived at Muktsar rally waving black flags calling him to “respect the media”. As soon as they entered they called out, Bhagwant Mann hosh mein aayo. AAP volunteers responded with Inqlaab Zindabaad. At Bassi Pathana, Mann accused journalists of being “paid by the Badals”.
