Custody extended till April 23

Shital Vij,the owner of Shital Fibres,was on Thursday remanded to police custody till April 23. Police had sought remand for a week on the grounds that they were yet to recover the attendance register,which was important to determine the exact number of labourers who had entered the ill fated blanket making factory.

Shital Vij,the owner of Shital Fibres,was on Thursday remanded to police custody till April 23. Police had sought remand for a week on the grounds that they were yet to recover the attendance register,which was important to determine the exact number of labourers who had entered the ill fated blanket making factory. The police also pointed out that they were yet to collect details of the contractor and other documents related to the construction of building,so that lapses could be detected. Meanwhile,Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) authorities served two show cause notices on Shital Vij on Thursday. The ESI authorities have asked Vij to explain as to why action should not be taken against him under penal provisions of the ESI Act for failing to comply with the provisions of the Act,mandatory for every industrial unit. sThe notices have stated that Vij had not been making payments for the employee insurance scheme as mandated by the Act. One notice has also demanded that Vij provide complete details of the labourers working in the ill-fated unit.
