Curfew relaxed in Gurdaspur

Normalcy began returning to Gurdaspur as the curfew — which had been in place for three days following the death of a student Jaspal Singh allegedly due to police firing — was relaxed till further orders on Sunday.

Normalcy began returning to Gurdaspur as the curfew — which had been in place for three days following the death of a student Jaspal Singh allegedly due to police firing — was relaxed till further orders on Sunday. Earlier,the curfew was relaxed for 10 hours — from 6 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Pathankot DC Sibin C,who took additional charge of Gurdaspur on Saturday after former DC Mohinder Singh Kainth was transferred,took the decision late in the night. The body of Jaspal Singh was cremated in the evening following the transfer of Gurdaspur DC and suspension of the SSP and the DSP.
