The name is definitely not a give-away to the core theme of this newly opened restaurant. Only if you have diligently followed your history lessons, will it remind you of the popular Japanese port city of the same name. We looked at the logo and let the sizzlers tagline be our guide. Housed alongside other popular eateries at Elante,Kobe instantly draws attention with its wooden ambience. With the mall fast turning out to be a serious food destination, its no surprise that Kobe, too, chose to open doors here.
The restaurant chain (it hails from Mumbai we are told) boasts of umpteen wooden elements such as columns and blinds that give it a warm, almost a chalet-like look. That misty feeling is well represented by steaming platters and the crackling hiss that is heard every now and then as orders arrive on tables. Boasting of 70 covers, the seating is spacious and the menu is well-endowed.
Though sizzlers Oriental and Continental with few Indian variants (predominantly with paneer) are signature dishes,Kobe includes a fair selection of soups, salads (the Waldorf makes a surprise entry, considering its been missing from most menus in the city) alongside starters and main course. Given the fact that sizzlers are a speciality here, our recommendation would be the Chilli Chicken Sizzler or Lamb Chops, depending upon your choice. There are substantial vegetarian options as well and the Veg Satellite, which comes in a mushroom variant,is a good pick. The sizzlers are meals in themselves, served with boiled vegetables, grilled onions,French fries or mashed potatoes. Its interesting to see a menu make space for kids meals as well.
However,we found the writing on the wall,My favourite animal is steak,a tad unnecessary; Where there is smoke there is a sizzler placed alongside is wittier. The dessert line-up is familiar and the sizzling brownie with ice-cream would be a suitable way to end your meal.
