The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum,Panchkula court has penalised Blazeflash Courier Ltd for being guilty of deficient services in belated delivery of a parcel.
A resident of Panchkula Sector 26,Nakul Vashist,had dispatched the application form for his admission in BTech (2nd Year) JMIT College,Radhor,Yamunangar along with requisite demand draft to the college through Sam Enterprises,Panchkula Sector 11,a franchisee of Blazeflash Courier on August 23. The last date for receiving forms was fixed by the college on August 31. However,the courier was delivered on September 6,which was returned by college authorities,on the grounds that it reached after the last date of submission.
Due to the delay,the complainant was not considered in the list of eligible candidates to attend the counselling by the college and consequently had to drop a year.
On notice,the courier company explained that booked envelop was delivered to the addresses by them,but the same was received back undelivered because the addressee had refused to take its delivery. As such they cannot be held deficient in any manner, they pleaded.
The company is asked to pay Rs 5,000 to the complainant as compensation on account of deficiency in service,mental agony,harassment suffered by him due to delay in delivering his consignment. They should also pay Rs 2,000 as costs of litigation, the court order said.
