Divisions within the Congress councillors came out in the open after one councillor accused the Mayor of undue interference in the functioning of his ward. The councillor shot off a letter to the Mayor highlighting his complaint.

Councillor Mukesh Bassi,in a letter written to Mayor Subhash Chawla has stated that he should take along councillors of his own party.

Bassi rued that the Mayor was interfering in the functioning of his ward just to promote himself.

Bassi alleged that the Mayor, along with his supporters in ward 17 has visited the area several times and issued instructions to the officials for getting work done. Bassi stated that when he was sincere in working for the people of his ward, there was no need for Chawla to interfere.

Discontent has been brewing within the Congress since the race for the election of Mayor for this term started. Several Congress councillors were in the race with Bassi being one of them.

Chawla has said that he is a little surprised at the allegations by Mukesh Bassi and intends to look into these on
