Cops fail to nab murder accused,residents protest

Accusing the police of having failed to arrest the accused involved in the murder of 32- year old Javed,the residents of Colony No 4 protested against the police inaction on Friday. Javed was stabbed to death by two unidentified assailants outside his shop in Daria on Thursday evening.

Accusing the police of having failed to arrest the accused involved in the murder of 32- year old Javed,the residents of Colony No 4 protested against the police inaction on Friday. Javed was stabbed to death by two unidentified assailants outside his shop in Daria on Thursday evening.

The protesters blocked the road near Bhusan Light Point for sometime and raised slogans against the Chandigarh Police. The protest caused inconvenience to commuters forcing the Police to reach the spot and pacify the protesters by assuring them that the accused would be arrested soon. Meanwhile,a day after the incident,the police were yet to make any arrest in the case. Police claim that the family members suspect many persons behind the incident and on that basis they were looking for the person who had a fight with the deceased a few days back. The motive behind the murder is yet to be established. Javed was stabbed in the thigh by two unidentified youths who had come to his shop on the pretext of getting a phone recharge. He was rushed to GMCH 32,where he died during treatment due to excessive bleeding. According to eyewitness,the assailants fled in a Maruti car whose number could only be partially noted down as the number plate was broken.
