Cop booked for smuggling poppy husk missing from May 5

UT Police constable Jung Singh,who was booked by the Mohali police on May 18 for allegedly smuggling poppy husk,has reportedly been on medical leave for the past few days.

UT Police constable Jung Singh,who was booked by the Mohali police on May 18 for allegedly smuggling poppy husk,has reportedly been on medical leave for the past few days.

Kuldeep Singh,a taxi driver,had filed a case against the constable under the NDPS Act. Jung Singh is at present posted with the crime branch as a computer operator. DSP (Crime) Satbir Singh said,“The last we heard from Jung Singh was on May 5,when he reportedly met with an accident. On May 6,he got a DDR registered”.

Gurcharan Singh,CIA Inspector of Mohali,said,“We have raided Jung Singh’s godown in Krishna Enclave,Khanpur,where he allegedly kept the poppy husk that he smuggled from Rajasthan. But,there was no trace of any narcotic. We are trying to nab the constable and get him to join the investigation”.

The crime branch of the Mohali police had arrested Kuldeep with 55-kg poppy husk worth Rs 55,000. Police said that during investigation,Kuldeep revealed that he had come in contact with Jung Singh,three years back,and the constable had then asked Kuldeep to smuggle poppy husk for him from Rajasthan.
