THE CONGRESS on Tuesday named Raja Sansi MLA Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria as the new convenor of its Badlav Rally to be held in Bathinda on December 15. He replaces the Punjab Congress vice-president Lal Singh, who stepped down citing a busy schedule due to the wedding of his grandson. Sarkaria was part of a 11-member committee for the rally, announced by Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday.

Though he stepped down as convenor, Lal Singh was present at Bathinda on Tuesday to take stock of arrangements. He announced that Sarkaria had taken over from him. Lal Singh also made it clear that the party was united and said workers have been upbeat ever since Amarinder’s appointment as PPCC president.
He later addressed a party gathering, where a number of MLAs complained that they were facing problems in getting buses for the rally.””This is cheap politics by the ruling party. We have no doubts that they may even challan our vehicles or cause traffic jams on the rally day. A few other transporters are also not willing to come with Congress workers fearing threats from the ruling party”” he alleged.

Lal Singh urged his party leaders to hire tractors, trolleys and trucks.
