Congress organises camps to help those in queue in Chandigarh

The Congress organised camps outside banks at various sectors to help those people who thronged to deposit or exchange their old notes in Chandigarh on Saturday.

The camps were organised at Sectors 20, 19, 30, 37 and Ramdarwar. The Congress workers also offered tea and snacks to the people.

Leaders who arranged the camps included Sandeep Bhardwaj, Dr OP Verma, Rajiv Modgil, Yadvindra Mehta, Parhlad Sharma, NS Riku, Sukhi, Jagdeep Mahajan and Bhajan Kaur.

Chandigarh Congress chief Pradeep Chhabra termed the decision to ban the currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 untimely and said that the decision has hit the common men hard. He said that while the BJP government in the Centre has failed to bring black money from Swiss banks, it is harassing the common man, housewives and poor people in the country by banning currency notes.
