The CONGRESS will be holding its December 15 rally at the upcoming real estate colony – Pearl City on Goniana road of Bathinda district – the same venue where SAD had organised its Sadbhawna rally. Earlier, the Congress had criticized the SAD for its choice of venue for their November 23 rally reasoning that the company was facing an inquiry on charges of fraud.
A few investors also protested a day after the rally at the venue of Pearl City. Reportedly, though the Congress was trying to book other venues on Goniana road and even on Mansa road, but shad to settle on this due to space constraints. On Saturday, a few Congress MLAs had visited the spot and agreed on the venue.
Jaiton Congress MLA Joginder Singh Panjgrain who had visited the site said,”It is quite spacious for organising a rally and hence we chose this and moreover, our gathering will be alteast three times compared to what SAD saw.”
“Moreover, deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal challenged Capt Amarinder Singh to organise a similar rally at the same venue,” he added.
Capt Amarinder Singh – who will be taking charge as PPCC chief on the day – said, “Ours will be a big show and the crowd will be genuine. I am sure that we will face hassles on the day as the Badals will use the official machinery to not allow buses for our supporters to come to the rally. So our supporters will be coming on tractors, trucks, trolleys in case buses will not be available.”
A target of more than 5,000 persons per constituency has been prescribed to party MLAs and former legislators. “People are willing to come on their own. So it will not be a big issue about gathering,” said Ajaib Singh Bhatti, Congress MLA.
