Congress leader Arshad Khan passes away

Congress leader and former nominated councillor Arshad Khan passed away,on Thursday,following a heart attack. He was 37-years-old.

Congress leader and former nominated councillor Arshad Khan passed away,on Thursday,following a heart attack. He was 37-years-old. The last rites will be performed at his home town in Hyderabad on Friday. Khan is survived by his mother and siblings.

Khan,who was reportedly suffering from a heart problem for some time,suffered a heart attack at his office at IT Park in the afternoon. He was running a consultancy firm. He was rushed to PGI emergency ward where he was declared dead on arrival. A large number of leaders of different political parties were present at the hospital.

Khan was nominated to the General House of the Municipal Corporation during the previous term from 2007-11. During his tenure,he frequently raised a number of issues including the need for project management tools in the civic body,e-waste management system and bylaws for disposal of construction waste. He worked actively to bring about reforms in the education system of madrasas.

Khan had tried testing political waters during the elections of the MC held recently. He was fielded from ward 26,but lost the election. Well-wishers expressed shock at his sudden death. A Congress leader stated that he had talked to Khan over the phone just a few minutes before he suffered the fatal heart attack.

Among those who condoled his death were Chander Mukhi Sharma,Pardeep Chhabra,Subhash Chawla,H S Lucky,Devinder Singh Babla,MPS Chawla,Gurpreet Gabi and Sachin Sharma. Congress city president B B Bahl said that his sudden death was a great loss to the party.
