Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday sanctioned a new civil hospital in Zirakpur,which until now had depended on Dera Bassi for all its medical purposes. He also announced a one-time grant of Rs 2.5 crore for the construction of the hospital building. Badal was in Dhakauli village,5 kms from Zirakpur,to lay the foundation stone of the Dashmesh Institute of Higher Education. The institute is an initiative of the SGPC to provide quality education to students in the area. The institute is likely to be functional by the next academic session.
