Class V student killed,father hurt after truck hits cycle in Panchkula

A class V student lost his life and his father sustained serious injuries after the cycle they were travelling in was hit by a truck in Panchkula on Saturday.

A class V student lost his life and his father sustained serious injuries after the cycle they were travelling in was hit by a truck in Panchkula on Saturday. Police said Himanshu was riding the cycle while his father,Subash Chander,was sitting on the back seat when the truck hit them at the dividing road of Sector 17 and 18.

The incident happened at around 5:30 pm and local people,who found the boy in a pool of blood,informed the nearby police post at Sector-7. The victims were then rushed to the government hospital in Sector-6,where the boy was declared dead on arrival while his father is undergoing treatment.

The driver of the truck bearing the registration number HR69-A-2820 fled the spot,leaving his vehicle behind. A case has been registered under Sections 304-A,337 and 279 of the IPC against the driver for rash and negligent driving.

Police said that the boy and his father were returning to their Sector-4 residence from Chandigarh,where they had gone to meet a relative,who was admitted at PGI. The boy’s father is a waiter in a city hotel.

Station house officer (SHO) of the sector-5 police station,Naveen Sandhu,said investigation were on in the case. “We have seized the truck and the hunt is on for the driver,” an officer said.
