City to host tourism fest

The Confederation of Indian Industry Northern Region will organise a mega event,‘CII Tourism Fest’ to boost the tourism and hospitality industry and showcase the tourism potential in the eight northern states and the UT of Chandigarh.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region will organise a mega event,‘CII Tourism Fest’ to boost the tourism and hospitality industry and showcase the tourism potential in the eight northern states and the UT of Chandigarh.

Jayant Davar,Chairman,CII NR said,“The first ever ‘CII tourism fest’ will be organised with the partnership of all northern state governments in Chandigarh on December 5-7,2013 with domestic as well as international participation. Punjab and Chandigarh will be the host states and discussions are on with other states to partner in the initiative.”

“Apart from states across India,there will be an international flavour as well. Thailand and Dubai have already confirmed their participation and we are expecting participation from other countries as well,” added Davar.

“Chandigarh will be dressed as a bride to host the first ever tourism fest. We all are tourists and we all contribute to economy while we travel,” pointed out DK Tiwari,Secretary,Tourism,Chandigarh Administration.

“Chandigarh has been chosen as the location due to to its connectivity with states and for being a gateway to the hilly states,in addition to being the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. Chandigarh acts as a transit point for tourists in addition to being a hub of tourism,culture,festivity and business of North India,” Jayant Davar added.
