City student bags top rank in AIIMS undergraduate exam

Arnav Aggarwal of Chandigarh made Tricity proud by bagging the first rank in the under graduate medical entrance examination for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),result of which was declared on Monday.

Arnav Aggarwal of Chandigarh made Tricity proud by bagging the first rank in the under graduate medical entrance examination for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),result of which was declared on Monday.

Son of a chartered accountant and a commerce teacher,Arnav says he always wanted to be a renowned cardiologist. He did his Class XII from Shri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School,Sector 38,and secured 95. 4 per cent marks. A cricket freak,who loves to watch Sachin bat,he scored 99 in Biology in Class XII. Aggarwal had also stood first in Tricity in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to all undergraduate medical colleges. At national level,Aggarwal had bagged the second rank in the exam after securing 686 marks.

Followed by Arnav,Nishant Aggarwal of Patiala,who took coaching from Chandigarh,has secured AIR 6. He wants to be a civil servant,because he feels that social and political set up needs to be changed. Son of an orthopaedic surgeon and a gynaecologist,Nishat loves to play computer games and watch FIFA.

Nishant Aggarwal with 663 marks had secured second rank in his state in NEET. Akshit Bhardwa,who appeared from Punjab,earned AIR 44 in AIIMS examination while in NEET exam he had secured AIR 62. Similarly,Jaskran of Chandigarh earned AIR 65 in AIIMS examination. He,however,got rank 13 in the state in NEET test and had secured 59th rank at the national level.

Gurtej Saini,staying at Mohali,has bagged AIR 100 in the said examination while in NEET examination he earned third rank in the state and was at 14th position at national level.
