There is a spurt in acting institutes in the city with a host of options available for aspiring actors.These institutes are catering to students, professionals and senior citizens as well. Harsh, a student of a local acting institute said, “ The setting up of acting institutes in the city has helped me a lot in boosting my self-confidence. Performing for stage shows and plays has helped me in connecting easily with people.”
Shyam Juneja, owner of Cipa Films said, “Earlier, people used to think that acting was just an inborn talent and it could not be polished. But by setting up of acting academies in the region, we are providing a path for a brighter future in the field of acting.” The acting institutes provide varied courses like personality development, basics of communication, acting before camera, and modelling among others.
The fee ranges from about Rs 20,000 to Rs 2 lakh. These academies certify the students by providing a regular course for a period of six months to a year. Opportunities of acting in plays and films are also provided. The love for acting has encouraged a lot of students to choose it as their profession. Abhishek, a Software Engineering student said, “Engineering is my first love but acting was something which I wanted to give a try. By joining an acting institute, I have discovered a new talent in myself which I would love to explore it further.”
Several new academies are in the pipeline. Arminder Singh, owner of My Dream Entertainment, an upcoming acting academy in the city, said, “Our acting academy would provide the foundation stone for young students. A lot of them want to get trained in few days, so an acting school is a base for them to evolve as actors.”
