GMSH-16,the hospital with the maximum influx of patients running high fever,on Tuesday created an additional emergency wing,the fourth in the hospital

Dengue fever continues to rise in the city with the UT Health Department’s Malaria Wing notifying the total number of cases in the city as 231. Out of these cases,139 are from the city alone.

Besides these,there are 35 new cases of dengue whose samples have tested positive at the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32.

At the Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH),Sector 16,which has the maximum influx of patients running high fever,the hospital on Tuesday created an additional emergency wing totaling four emergencies in the hospital.

The one which has been created on Tuesday is at the place of the old registration counter and has been converted into a specialized fever emergency.

Two doctors have been positioned at the new emergency wing round the clock,besides lab technicians and other required staff. The number of patients visiting the OPD at the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,daily has also doubled over the past two weeks.

In order to accommodate the patients,the beds at the Emergency ward have been shifted to the Medical OPD and the waiting area.

At the city’s tertiary care unit,the PGI,more than 25 patients of dengue have been admitted. The waiting area at the Emergency wing has turned into a patient ward at the PGI as well.
