Two cases of theft lodged

Two separate cases of theft in house were registered by the Chandigarh Police on Tuesday. In one,a resident of Sector 24-B alleged that an unknown person stole a pair of gold bangles,two gold rings and a gold jewellery set from her residence on Tuesday afternoon. According to the police,the thief broke the lock on the main gate of the house. A case of trespassing house and of theft in dwelling house has been registered at Sector 11 police station. In another,a resident of Mauli Jagran alleged that an unknown person stole a mobile phone,important documents,an identity card and printing cards from his house on Monday night. According to the police,the thief stole the belongings of the victim as the door of the house had been left open. A case of theft in dwelling house has been registered at Manimajra police station.

Man booked for fraud

Chandigarh: A resident of Sector 22-C alleged that one Karanjeet Rehal cheated her on the pretext of providing her a work visa for abroad. According to the complainant,Rehal provided the victim with a tourist visa rather than a work visa to Dubai. When the victim reached Dubai on June 7,she was employed in a tourism company but was paid less than what she was promised before by Rehal. The victim also complained that Rehal took her passport as a security deposit to seek an extension for her tourist visa for 20 days. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 24 of the Immigration Act at the Sector 17 police station.

Two cases of snatching lodged

Chandigarh: Two separate cases of snatching were registered by the Chandigarh Police. In one,a resident of Saharanpur,Uttar Pradesh alleged that three unknown persons snatched Rs. 3,000 and a mobile phone on Tuesday evening. According to the police,the victim Parveen Kumar had gone to attend nature’s call in a jungle behind Sector 26 police lines. Three unidentified persons ran away after restraining and snatching the victim’s belongings. A case of using force,theft,criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property and of acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention has been registered at Sector 26 police station. In another,a resident of Phase-6,Mohali alleged that on Tuesday,an unknown person on a motorcycle fled away after snatching her purse containing a mobile phone,a voter card,a PAN card,an Aadhar card,a pair of gold earrings,a nose ring,a silver anklet and cash of Rs. 2000. According to the police,the victim,Satbir Kaur was riding on a scooter with her friend in Sector 34,when a motorcyclist snatched her purse. A case of theft and of criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property has been registered at Sector 36 police station.
