Two employees of the State Transport Authority (STA),Sector 18,who had been booked in a cheating and fraud case by the Vigilance Department a few weeks ago, have surrendered. While Senior Assistant Ravinder Sharma surrendered before the court on Monday, cashier Sushil Kumar surrendered before the vigilance officials on Tuesday.

In January 2010,Ravinder had allegedly taken Rs 25,000 as counter fee from an employee of Punjab Chemicals Crop Protection while the original amount was just Rs 470. Sharma had kept the original receipt with him and gave a photocopy receipt to the depositor.

The next day,Sharma asked Kumar, who had returned to work,to cancel the Rs 25,000 receipt and instead got a new receipt of Rs 470 issued. The two then divided the rest of the money between themselves.

Later,a complaint was lodged by Deshraj Guleria, and after conducting an inquiry, the two were found guilty. A case was registered against them.

Vigilance Inspector Dileep Rattan said,“The two had previously applied for bail which was rejected by the court.”
