Charges framed against doctor for raping colleague

The victim who was working as a medical officer at a Primary Health Center at district Buria, in her complaint,said the doctor raped her on the pretext of marriage.

A local court on Thursday framed charges against a man accused of raping his colleague. The victim alleged that the accused Vageesh Gultain whom she knew since 2007 allegedly raped her on March 16,2011.

The victim who was working with Gultain as a medical officer at a Primary Health Center at district Buria,Yamunanagar,in her complaint,said Gultain raped her on the pretext of marriage.

The victim works under the supervision of the father of the accused. In her complaint,she alleged that she was asked by Gultain’s parents to spend time him as they wanted them to get married.

After completing her training,the victim went back to her home in Shimla in January 2008. In January 2010,she came back to Chandigarh for further studies and started residing in Sector 8.

As per the complainant,Gultain proposed marriage in December 2010. On March 16,2011 Gultain came to her Sector 8 residence in an inebriated state and allegedly raped her. However,later he assured her of marriage.

However,later he declined to marry her.

Following which the victim filed a complaint and a case was registered under Section 376 (Punishment for rape)

of the Indian Penal Code on August 9,2013.
