Chandigarh Sector 40-41 road accident: Police arrest driver of Tempo Traveller, released on bail later

The Chandigarh police have arrested the driver of a tempo traveller which was involved in the fatal road accident, in Sector 40-41 lightpoint on late Tuesday night. One person had lost his life while another suffered serious injuries in the accident. The accused, identified as Jaipal, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, was released on bail, police said.

The accused while driving the vehicle, allegedly hit an activa scooter driven by Santosh, while Surinder was riding pillion. The seriousness of the accident could be gauged by the fact that the scooter was dragged around 200 metres away from the spot by the vehicle.

Both natives of Himachal Pradesh, Santosh was working as a manager in Hot Millions while Surinder was a security guard at the same place. They were returning home after completing their duty when they met with the accident. Both Surinder and Santosh were rushed to the hospital where doctors declared Surinder brought dead while Santosh was admitted in Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, in a serious condition. His condition is now stated to be stable.
