Chandigarh Police employees collected Rs 25.88 lakh from their salaries for the family of Inspector Sucha Singh, who laid down his life on duty.

Sucha Singh died in June this year after being stabbed repeatedly by a suspended police constable.

A cheque was handed over to Sucha Singh’s family by Inspector General of Police RP Upadhyaya and it was stated that the Chandigarh Police would draw inspiration from his dedication.

The suspended constable Basant had already committed a double murder when the police were looking for him.

The incident happened when Sucha Singh, who was on night patrol with his driver, noticed Basant with his girlfriend and rounded them up.

He then took them to the police station for verification. It was then that the youth pulled out a knife and asked the driver to stop.

As the driver tried to intervene, the youth stabbed them multiple times.
