Chandigarh: PGI to pay Rs 5,000 to staff for Kayakalp award

The Kayakalp award was an initiative of the Union health ministry aimed at encouraging sanitation in the health institutes across the country.

The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research on Thursday decided to award Rs Rs 5,000 to more than 4,000 contract and regular employees for their contribution in achieving the Kayakalp award, for which the institute won Rs 5 crore as the first prize in March this year.

The Kayakalp award was an initiative of the Union health ministry aimed at encouraging sanitation in the health institutes across the country to rank major hospitals of the country on the basis of hygiene. In the order issued, it has been mentioned that those who will get the award money, include hospital attendants (both regular employees and outsourced employees), sanitary attendants (PGI regular and outsourced), technical grade 1 to V and semi-skilled workers of the engineering department and hospital support services.
